Biblical Counseling Defined The biblical counseling relationship is intentional and purposeful with the hope of directing people to a deeper and applicable relationship with Jesus Christ through the grace centered message of the Bible. The intent of biblical counseling is to engage people who are seeking counsel for distressing and life challenging stressors and inviting them to apply the principles in God’s Word; in such a way that they experience the transforming nature and power of Jesus Christ.
As biblical counselors our role involves taking the time to understand our client, assessing their life situations through the grid of Scripture, challenging them with God’s framework, and encouraging them to practically apply God’s Word to their life situations. As biblical counselors, we seek to build strong relationships and help people apply the Bible in ways that are meaningful and life giving.
We believe that people can be healed, strengthened, and built up as they grow in their understanding of the Bible and in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Statement of Faith *As an organization, Center for Christian Counseling Studies believes:
In one God, creator and sustainer of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally co-existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired and trustworthy Word of God, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of human beings, and the final authority for all matters about which it speaks.
That human nature derives from two historical persons, male and female, created in God’s image. They were created perfect, but they sinned, plunging themselves and all human beings into sin, guilt, suffering, and death.
That the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ and His bodily resurrection provide the only grounds for justification, forgiveness, and salvation for all who believe, and only those who trust in Him alone are born of the Holy Spirit, true members of the Church, and will spend eternity with Christ.
That the Holy Spirit is the agent of regeneration and renewal for believers in Christ, that He makes the presence of Jesus Christ real in believers, and that He comforts, guides, convicts, and enables believers to live in ways that honor Him.
That ministry to persons also acknowledges the complexity of humans as physical, psychological, social, and spiritual beings. The ultimate goal of Christian counseling is to help others move to personal wholeness, interpersonal competence, mental stability, and spiritual maturity.
I graduated from Center for Christian Counseling Studies in 2016. The school for me has been such a blessing! The classroom size is less than twenty students. The teachers are warm, caring individuals and are interested in their students both personally and academically. The teachers are also well versed in the curriculum and are highly competent in their teaching abilities. I like that the curriculum is scripturally aligned, so it gives Biblical truths. I also like that I have not needed to go through studies of science, math, or English, as the school focuses solely on Biblical counseling studies. I personally have been helped by taking the classes at C3, and I wish to take what I have learned and be able to help others to navigate difficulties in their lives through the truths of God’s word that are taught in this ‘Christ centered’ school. -Carol
I had been asking God to show me practical ways in which he could use me that would bring Him glory. A third year student came into my work and shared with me her experience at C3. I could feel her enthusiasm and see how deep her faith was. I took a leap of faith and signed up. This was not something I ever saw myself doing as it was completely out of my comfort zone. Through their insightful teaching, the instructors have taught me how to look deep inside myself to see the unique person God has created for a very special purpose. I am learning to study scripture and how to apply it to biblical counseling. This first year has completely changed my life. I look forward to class every week! I’m excited to move forward on this journey with an amazing group of people….Tammy
